I spent my first year of college in a city with artists who hung around each other so often that we had all developed codependency problems by the end of the semester. School became keeping my door unlocked for friends to come and go, real human moments, art projects at 4am, five roommates, referring to WaWa as dinner and Pine Deli as dessert.
Sophomore year, in order to grow as an artist and as a person I relocated to a new timezone. For the first time ever I didnt feel the world breathing down my neck, Im somewhere new with no family or old friends in proximity. When I come out of the shower in a towel there arent people in my living room. I no longer feel constantly surrounded. My life change was best described as busy and lonesome, night and day as I adapted to it. The question is: do I like and will I learn how to maximize my new solitary?
