This comedic novel finds Dakota Douglas lonely after her familys move to Ohio, but days of loneliness are soon filled with gaiety spiced with lunacy.
Dakota is quick to befriend the teens who live next door. She and her brother, Nevada, take an instant liking to the family in general. The siblings are soon to discover, however, that the Smith family is not as common as their name suggests.
What begins for Dakota as a whirlwind romance with the strange boy named Apollo soon turns into a summer adventure. As if spending time with the Smith clan is not adventurous enough, Dakota shortly is swept into a journey of insanity. Fortunately, surviving the Smith family has prepared Dakota for surviving those equally insane.
