Zoya had everything a home, friends, family… And then humanity was decimated by wars. Now she has nothing. She even lost her home. But she has adapted. She is driven forward only by the hope that a rare map will lead her to the last refuge on Earth. People tested by war and disease have also adapted to the new world and fight for every minute of life. A lonely girl wandering through an unknown land is easy prey for them. When an unknown Simon helps Zoya, he disrupts the fragile balance of the post-war community and must pay for it with his life. And so Zoya sets out on a journey through a devastated landscape, hoping that the map left by her dead friend will truly lead her to the gates of a city where humanity still reigns. At least it should… A dystopian version of the future in the latest novel by Miroslava Varkov, Adaptation, is dangerously close to a reality that could knock on our doors as soon as tomorrow.
