About the Author

Emiko Konomireceived her PhD from Cornell andtaught Japanese language at Portland State University at all levels for manyyears.

She also trained Japanese-language instructors at variousteacher-training programs in the U.S. Her passionate teaching style anddedication earned her the John Eliot Allen Outstanding Teaching Award in 2011and 2015.
