The landmark book about free-form stitchery

Fiber-arts expert Susan Brandeis presents a book that goes beyond stitch dictionaries and tutorials, into a new understanding of stitchery as an expressive art form.

Whether your particular interest is pictorial, portraiture, abstract compositions, or even actual text, you can say almost anything with thread. With more than 350 color photographs,The Intentional Thread shows how the techniques of drawing, painting, and hand-lettering can translate into stitches and knots.

With emphasis on the basics of line, texture, and color, The Intentional Threadis more like a fine-art instruction book than a typical “craft” book, with ideas and guidelines rather than cookie-cutter projects. It’s a great choice for creative stitchers and those who want to take their practice to new heights.
